Gmu Email Setup for Android

Accesss your Gmu email address directly into your Android phone without use Gmu.edu webmail interface by following simple steps provided below.

Access Your Gmu.edu Account From an Android Using SMTP & IMAP

  1. Go to the Android Home screen and search and open an Email or Gmail app (This setup may vary depending on the model and version).
  2. if you already have other email accounts in this app, go to Menu from the top 3 line and Tap settings and click Add Account.
  3. Tab Other into Setup email section.
  4. Enter your gmu.edu email address then click Manual Setup button.
  5. Select IMAP account.
  6. Enter the following details on incoming server settings screen.
    Username: Your gmu.edu username
    Password: Your Gmu.edu account password
    IMAP server: mail.gmu.edu
    Security type: SSL (Make sure SSL encryption is enabled for the incoming mail server)
    Port: 993
    Click Next Button.
  7. Enter the following details on outgoing server settings screen. SMTP server: smtp.gmu.edu
    Port: 587
    Security type: SSL (Make sure SSL encryption is enabled for the outgoing mail server)
    Click Next Button.
  8. Select Email check frequency (preferably every 15 minutes).
  9. Give your account name and Press Done.
  10. Congratulations, Now you can send and receive Gmu.edu email on your Android device.
